Forced to be an American internet junkie!!!!!! October 28, 2008

Very first blog post in 2007 … HAHA

Well I have joined the rest of the bored Americans and made myself a BLOG… Let the heavens rejoice.

Today has to be the hottest day in Missouri. I went out to do some yard work thinking I was going to beat the heat…HA I roasted like a Thanksgiving tukey…Better yet I think it was more along the lines of a deep fried turkey. As I felt the fat dripping off my face and into my eyes I looked over and thought who really cares if the yard looks nice anyway. So….I decided to jump into my 16 ft pool ( hey it works) The water was even steaming in there… My first thought, I cant escape this madness so I decided to come into the cool house and blog! You see people we Americans are forced to become internet junkies. OK OK… the 4 double chocolate fudge cookies to make me gain 5 more pounds was not necessary but oh so yummy…..

Anyway…I can always run that off looking for the remote that never seems to be at hand when you need it… so it is all good in the universe… I am keeping cool and I am stuffed with Chocolate what more can a girl ask for!?!?!?

5 cookies 5 days October 28, 2008

Taken from old blog…

You know when I was about 17, I would crawl out of bed on a Saturday afternoon after being out all night with friends only to find my MOTHER doing her Jane Fonda exercises.I would quickly grab the closest phone and start making plans for the evening. I would pass her in the living room…1 and 2 and 1 and 2 …BREATH….I would just roll my eyes and think OMG why does she try to kill herself doing that crap? ” You know, one of these days little girl your gonna have to do this to, you should start now” she would say ” your never to young to exercise” HA! Seems like daily she would try to lure me into her hour of exercise hell….I must say my mother has always had a body younger then her years… But at 17 HELL NO I was busy running myself ragged with friends..you see I would NEVER get that old…never so old that I would have to jump on the “lets get fit bandwagon”

Yesterday, I bought Tony Littles gazelle work out equipment... Damn I swear she must have been putting some magical spell on me all those years ago….It just does not seem possible that I got this flabby all because of nature..would nature pull such a shitty trick on me…..YES

I bought a bag of those GOOD cookies the other day and I am going to eat one each day till it arrives, at which time I will commit myself to exercise for 2 whole weeks non stop. I figure if it is going to work it will start letting me know by then.

Thanks Mom, I hope you and Jane are happy now!

So stay tuned I will try to track my progress on my blog this should be entertaining…

yours truly,

Flabby Ass

don’t miss the little things October 14, 2008

Filed under: Inspirational, daily living — xvmercy @ 1:32 am

Recently I was having a conversation with a friend, and we were discussing the ” Little things”. We talked about the enormous amount of joy that just one “little thing” could bring to our life, the difference just one little thing could make and how that little thing could virtually change our lives. Then we realized how many little things we had surly missed in life. To our surprise we also noted that there were surly billions of more little things to come if we opened our eyes and looked for them. I do not want to miss the little things in life anymore, for surly the little things are what really bring us joy! How many little things will you see today?

I found this poem a while back and was lucky to find it again…thanks to google!

Enjoy

Dandelions and Mud Puddles

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard. My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on…

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can’t carry a tune and don’t have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen. My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don’t know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that. My kids say, “Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don’t want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy.”

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from?

No wonder God loves the little children!!

“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”

Share Your goodness With the world October 10, 2008

Welcome fall!

I love the fall season, the weather has been exceptionally beautiful this year. Soon it will be Thanksgiving and we will start to reflect on the year as it comes to it’s end. I have so much to be thankful for! My life, my family, my friends, and all the happy moments of this years adventures. The only way I can stay positive and focused in this time when the world is in such crisis is to remember all the good things in life that I have been able to witness and even at times be a part of.. Our earth is crying to be loved, our kids are crying to be loved, and people are crying to be loved…. So tread lightly on the earth, hug your kids and tell them you love them and be kind to strangers. Spread your goodness, I believe we all have goodness to share. Don’t be afraid to spread it, in doing so, you might just make the world smile again.

Peace

I personally think if everyone in Washington would agree to a 50% pay cut it would cover the bail out!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Dear Friends,
Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant
media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders
are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty
that disaster is about to strike.
The events of the past week are no exception.

The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress’ throat is
not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a
mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again
bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people
a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will
have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the
bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than
China! “This is welfare for the rich,” he said. “This is socialism for
the rich. It’s bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall
Streeters.”
That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we’re being
told it’s unavoidable.

The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish
that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But
that has become the conventional wisdom, wit
h the desired result that
those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable
consequences – predictable, that is, to those who understand sound,
Austrian economics – are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve
System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the
culprit, in this mess!
• The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700
billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time. That means $700
billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.

• Financial institutions are “designated as financial agents of the
Government.” This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.
• Then there’s this: “Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the
authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency
discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any
administrative agency.” Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever
junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be
subject to no one in the process.
There goes your country.
Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this “sadly
necessary.” Sad, yes. Necessary? Don’t make me laugh.

Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the
American people. The two major party candidates for president
themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of
this kind -
another example of the big choice we’re supposedly
presented with this November: yes or yes. Now, with a backlash
brewing, they’re not quite sure what their views are. A sad display,
really.

Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of
the political atrocities we’ll witness in connection with the crisis,
time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow. With a
Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven
percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call
them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for
anyone who supports this atrocity.
The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom? Do we care
about responsibility and accountability? Do we care that our
government and media have been bought and paid for? Do we care that
average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the
fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government? Do we care?

When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means
standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and
the media?
Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are,
and what kind of country we shall be.
In liberty,
Ron Paul

So, I had to go buy some fabric today…I had to find “bridal white” satin… I thought ok, that shouldn’t take long or be to difficult. Well, let me just say it was not as easy as it seems.

After dropping the contents of my purse onto the floor twice, I proceeded to destroy the entire satin section in Jo-anns fabrics. The bolts of fabric we falling down like dominos. Let me remind you I was in the “white” bridal fabric area. Onebolt of fabric would fall, before i could catc it and replace it back on the display another would slip off…pretty soon i had fabric all over the T@$#%$#@ place.

Yes folks ….it was me, I admit it was me who made that horrible mess at Jo-anns that I am sure will take at least 2 hours to sort out before the fabric will again be presentable… Can you believe I never did find the right fabric!

After all that commotion, I high tailed it out of there before a store manager or clerk noticed what I had done. I zipped over to Hobby Lobby who had exactly what I needed. I purchased one yard and quickly left without touching anything… I swear!

If you should go to a wedding and see a bride with a big foot print on her handmade wedding dress, you will know she got her fabric at Jo-ann’s.
True story

p.s. I almost feel like I should send the ladies that work at Jo-ann fabrics a letter of apology.

We were able to get away for the weekend to relax and unwind. We were invited up north with some friends to 80 acres of beautiful country! We loaded up all the 4 wheelers and headed out. The fishing was great and even though it was in the middle of the day we all caught fish. With 80 acres there was plenty of room to roam on the 4 wheelers.  The guys loaded up all the guns and did some target practice, while we visited. I am kicking myself that I did not get a picture of David jumping out of the tree stand/ play house.  He tried to get me to do it but i passed on it. The matts looked cushoned enough but i had more fun watching…

It was almost time to get things packed up and we got a call from our middle some, our neighbor down the road who everyone loves had claimed his own life :( the news this morning is still shocking. Everyone on the road loved Jay, and we are all finding it heart breaking and confusing why he would decide to end his life. Jay was still so young,he was always ready to jump in and help you with what ever you asked him to help with. He was always driving up and down the road, passing by in his little blue truck with his dog maddie in the passenger seat. If you bought fresh veggies, he was always there to help you sack up your goodies and share a smile and even a funny story. I never seen Jay in a BAD mood, I dont think he had many of those days. He usually always had a smile on his face and something nice to say.  I just can not belive he is GONE.  He was such a  part of our neighbor hood, he was like our neighborhood watch dog.  It will be sad not to see him around anymore. It bothers my heart to think of how he must have felt so hopeless and sad inside of himself to take his life. No one should ever feel that sad or hopeless. We never saw this comming,  yet, in America suicide happens all to frequent, approx 89 people a day commit suicide. That does not account for the attemps made that left a person with a injury.   Some of the early signs could be change in mood, diet and sleep patterns. You can check out more detailed information about prevention and coping with lose at  http://www.save.org/

The SAVE mission is to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce stigma, and serve as a resource for those touched by suicide.

In case of emergency, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK

At times like this we are reminded how life can be way to short to be angry and bitter. It remind us to hug our kids and loved ones and tell them how much we love them. It is a time to mend the things in our life that are broken and live life as if we only have today.  R.I.P Jay…you will be missed and someday we will see you again.

 Edited on September 22nd-

It has almost been one month ago that Jay claimed his life. I spent a great deal of time thinking about this tragedy… I had some trouble understanding it.  I do not think people do this to hurt others, usually it is not in their nature to hurt others. I think for some people, Jay included, it was simply the only thing that made sense to him when he did it.  It is the ONLY thing that I can wrap my head around to understand suicide.

Best answer for most August 19, 2008

Sometimes when people ask ” how are you” It is just easier to say “fine” most people seem to like that answer the best.

Most of the time they really do not want to know the truth,  it is just something they say to say something.  When I do say ” I am fine” I hate the few seconds of silence on the other end

and so we live on
